URGENT: Red Hat Compromised

Recent cybercrime countermeasures and implications for corporate security
novembro 24, 2025Dear Colleague,
October is the European Cyber Security Month, a period in which the European Union promotes initiatives for citizens and organizations in the Member States, aimed at increasing attention on cyber risks and making the EU ecosystem more resilient to threats.
While many European states are actively participating in the campaign (e.g. announcement from Italian Cybersecurity Agency), other countries outside Europe – including the United States through the CISA agency – also use October to raise awareness among the public and businesses about digital threats.
Once again this year, the Engineering Group is joining the initiative, to enhance our own security and that of our clients, by increasing awareness among everyone in the Company.
The central theme of the 2025 campaign is Phishing: according to a report by ENISA, 60% of breaches begin by deceiving the victim through a phishing message or one of its variants:
- Quishing – phishing via QR Code (see example on Engage)
- Spearphishing – personalised phishing (see example on Engage)
- Smishing – phishing via SMS or chat
- Vishing – phishing using phone calls and voice messages (see example on Engage)
- Whaling – highly targeted phishing aimed at senior executives
- BEC – scams exploiting compromised corporate email accounts (see example on Engage)
- Deepfakes – scams based on fake identities or news created using artificial intelligence.
Don’t forget to report:
- any suspicious email you receive, using the dedicated button in Outlook
- any other suspicious contact (phone calls, chats, SMS…) related to work, by writing to security@eng.it and csirt@cybertech.eu
